ABOUT US
Gaeddert Farms Sweet Corn, Inc is a family run farm business currently owned and operated by sisters Tonya Martisko and Julie Ball. We are located just east of Buhler on our 3rd generation farm. Our sweet corn operation began over 35 years ago by growing just a small patch of sweet corn for our extended family’s use. Our first sweet corn stand, as young children, was on our grandparent's front lawn on 1st Street in Buhler. We were excited if we sold 5 dozen in one day! Eventually we sold to customers off the farm and began to add stands in nearby cities and farmers markets. Our first retail stand location was in Hutchinson in 1996. Today we have stands located in Hutchinson, McPherson, Newton, Andover, Derby, Salina and 5 in Wichita. We also sell at farmers markets in Hutchinson and Wichita on Saturdays. We have also added a variety of other produce that we sell but sweet corn is our main product.
We take pride in the fact that we are known for our quality and integrity. We provide customers with an outstanding product as well as an honest, family-oriented atmosphere.
The planting season begins as soon as possible, usually in early April. From then on, multiple plantings are staggered to get fresh sweet corn for 6-8 weeks. Planning for that perfect timing can be difficult to do. So many factors come into consideration, most of which we have no control over, such as Kansas weather! There have been years when some of our crop has been hailed out, drowned out, frozen out and even sustained damage from high winds. So goes the life of a farmer!
Our sweet corn is picked fresh every morning starting at 3 am. All sweet corn at the stands is picked fresh every day and is not sold the next day. We have expanded our produce over the years to include a variety of fresh produce that is also grown in Kansas....and we will also have peaches available from neighboring states when possible. We look forward to meeting you at the stands!
